Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026
Your Turn! (“we”, “the app”, at goyourturn.com) helps families share household chores. This policy explains what information the app keeps, why, who helps us run it, and what you can do about it. We wrote it to match what the app really does. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- We keep only what the app needs to work: your account, your household and its chores.
- No ads, no analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell or rent your information.
- You can delete your account yourself in Settings at any time.
What we keep
- Your account: email address, display name, password (stored only as a one-way hash), language and theme, and when you signed up, verified your email and last signed in. If you sign in with Google, also your Google account ID and the email Google gives us. We never see your Google password.
- Your household: its name, time zone and settings, and the profiles of the people in it: display name, the avatar picked from the app’s built-in set, color, role, optionally birth year, and an optional profile PIN (stored as a hash).
- What you do in the app: chores, tasks and their status, points, rewards and goals, swap requests, notes and messages you type, wheel spins, notifications and a household activity log.
- Invitations: if you invite someone by email, their email address.
- Phone and browser notifications: if you turn them on, the technical address your browser gives us for delivering them, plus the browser name and language.
- Technical data: like every website, our servers see your IP address and browser details. They appear in short-lived server logs and are used to keep the service secure (for example, to slow down repeated login attempts).
Children
A household is created and managed by an adult. Parents or guardians may add profiles for their children. Children’s profiles hold only what the parent enters (a name or nickname, an avatar, optionally a birth year) and the chores and points recorded for them. Children do not need an email address. By adding a child, the parent or guardian confirms they are allowed to and consents on the child’s behalf. Parents can change or remove a child’s profile at any time.
Why we use it
- To run the app: show your household its chores, rotations, points and rewards, and send the reminders you asked for.
- To send account emails: confirming your email, password resets, approval notices and invitations. We do not send marketing email.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.
Who helps us run the app
These providers process information only on our behalf and only to provide their service:
- Amazon Web Services: our servers and database (Israel region), and sending our emails (Amazon SES).
- Cloudflare: delivers the website securely (HTTPS) and protects it from attacks. All traffic to the app passes through it.
- Google: only if you choose “Sign in with Google”. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google’s servers.
- Your browser’s push service (for example Google, Apple or Mozilla): delivers notifications to your device if you turn them on.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies and local storage
We use one sign-in cookie to keep you logged in, and the browser’s storage to remember small choices, such as hiding the “install the app” prompt. They are needed for the app to work. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep it
- Sign-ups that never confirm their email are deleted after 48 hours.
- Account and household information is kept while the account is in use.
- When you delete your account (Settings), we immediately remove your email address, name, password and Google link. Your profile in a household stays without your login, so the household’s shared history stays correct. If you were the only member, the household is closed. You can ask us to permanently erase a closed household.
- Database backups are kept for a limited time (up to 30 days) and are then overwritten.
Your rights
You can see and change most of your information in the app. You may also ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under the law (for example under Israel’s Privacy Protection Law or the EU’s GDPR), including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Security
All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords and PINs are stored only as hashes. Access to the servers and database is limited. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users if a breach puts their information at risk.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
